Florida Hospital Flagler faced high nurse turnover in a non-urban location where nurses tended to relocate to major cities. With a shallow local applicant pool, the CEO asked C-Suite Analytics to implement stay interviews and supporting processes to solve what appeared to be an un-solvable problem. The result was nurse turnover fell 39% in the following year, from 28% to 17%, and other hospital positions saw similar declines. The CEO attributed this remarkable turnaround to each manager honoring their turnover goals and then asking each employee why they stay and what could make them stay longer. Stay interviews were the solution.
